About Us: Coalition

The Parent Revolution is a coalition of community organizations and leaders in education who are coming together to empower parents to make change.  Our coalition includes:

Alliance for College-Ready Public Schools
Alliance for College-Ready Public Schools exists to open and operate a network of excellent, small, high-performing schools in historically underachieving, low income, overcrowded communities in Los Angeles that will significantly outperform other public schools in preparing students to enter and succeed in college. Bright Star Schools

The vision of Bright Star Schools is to create a network of schools serving students in grades 5-12 that yields students who cultivate their intellects (sharp mind), practice a healthy lifestyle (strong body), care for humanity (compassionate), are personally empowered (enthusiastic) and have a deeply ingrained sense of responsibility (industriousness). They have shown amazing results in their five years since their founding, operating the top two performing charter schools in the LAUSD. Click here to learn more.

Catholic Charities: Brownson House

Catholic Charities Brownson House provides an array of basic services to underserved people and families, including emergency food and shelter, childcare, job training, and immigration services, among others.  Founded in 1901, Brownson House was their first community center. Reverend K.W. Tulloss- Los Angeles Chapter President, National Action Network

Rev K.W. Tulloss is the reverend of Weller Street Missionairy Baptist Church in Boyle Heights, as well as the president of the Los Angeles Chapter of the National Action Network.  He strongly supports the Parent Revolution in part because of the results of the recent transformation of Locke High School.  A graduate of Locke himself and an initial skeptic of the transformation plan, he believes the Locke story proves that any school can be transformed into a safe, successful, high-acheiving campus.
