An Historic Day for Parents in Florida

Today, the Parent Trigger took a huge first step towards becoming law in  Florida as it received bipartisan support in legislative committees in both the Florida House of Representatives and the Florida Senate! With a vote of 11-3 on the K-20 Innovations Subcommittee in the Florida House and a vote of 5-0 in the Florida Senate, Parent Trigger received widespread support across the aisle.

As we have seen right here in California as well as Texas and Mississippi, bipartisan support is the first major step in making Parent Trigger legislation a law. For parents in failing schools, it doesn't matter which side of the aisle the legislation comes from, it just matters that they have real power over the educational destiny of their children.

With meetings with Desert Trail parents and the Adelanto Elementary School District making progress and Parent Trigger legislation popping up in Florida and Arizona, the parent empowerment movement is making great strides across the nation. Parents are becoming important players in education conversations across the nation.
